Reviews by Miss America “USA” When A&E advertised their new series THE GLADES, it looked very witty and I decided to give it a try. After I saw the first episode, I wondered if they could keep the light homicide clever stories of “who done it” going with relatively unknown players. By the second episode I was hooked. I loved the cute bantering back in forth and quick one liners. All of the characters look like they “work well with others” even though the main detective, Jim Longworth says he does not. Everyone plays their part to a “tee” and I love the tense sexual relationship Jim and Callie (Kiele Sanchez) have during each episode.
For a person like myself who loves real crime stories, this series is light with a crime to solve every hour. When I am asked what the series is like, I always come back with THE GLADES feeling much like the other classic series THE CLOSER with the male/female detective reversed. I will be purchasing this DVD as soon as it is available so I can not only see the episodes again but this time without certain words cut out. That was my only negative of A&E running the series. They bleeped out words G rated. I congratulate everyone on the THE GLADES for a job well done, another year renewed and for another fan who will be watching! The Glades at Amazon June 14th.

This season’s most intriguing new series is coming to DVD around June 14th from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. In THE GLADES The Complete First Season, fans and new viewers alike will experience the gripping mystery, complex characters and the wry humor that is “par for the course” in A&E Network’s highest rated original series.
Recently renewed for its second season, THE GLADES stars Australian actor Matt Passmore as Jim Longworth, an attractive, brilliant, yet hard to get along with homicide detective from Chicago who is forced into exile after being wrongfully accused of sleeping with his former captain’s wife. Longworth relocates to the sleepy, middle-of-nowhere town of Palm Glade, Florida, where the sunshine and golf are plentiful and crime is seemingly at a minimum. But this town outside the Florida Everglades isn’t quite as idyllic as he thought, as he finds people keep turning up murdered. Each case pulls Longworth off the golf course and reluctantly into his element as one of the sharpest homicide detectives in the field.
THE GLADES Season 1 DVD is loaded with exclusive special features including un-aired deleted scenes, gag reel, behind-the-scenes footage, featurettes, director and cast commentaries.
