I Brokedown and finally watched A PERFECT GETAWAY, I was suprised how much I liked it!
I’ve had a crush on Milla Jovovich since I first saw her in prancing around in her underwear in the 90s film Kuffs. So I was surprise how little interest I had in watching her movie A PERFECT GETAWAY when I saw the previews in theaters. However, with nothing to do on a Thursday night and having just watched a trailer for Milla’s soon to be released RESIDENT EVIL sequel. Man was I surprise how much i enjoyed it.
My expectations could not have been lower. I was expecting something dull and cheesy along the lines of I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. Instead it turned out to be an on the edge of your seat thriller. I was expecting lots of cheesy gore and special effects, and stead it had some amazing cinematography and some great action sequences. All and all, I was really impressed.
Even more surprising was how drastically Kiele Sanchez (Lost, The Glades, Dark Days) out shined her co-stars Timothy Olyphant (Justified, Hitman, Deadwood), Steve Zahn (Management, Rescue Dawn, That Thing You Do!) and my dream girl Milla Jovovich (Kuffs, 5th Element, Resident Evil). Both Steve Zahn and Timothy Olyphant have some serious acting chops. Even more surprising than that was how much drooling I was doing over Keile, pronounced Kee-lee, despite the fact that just about every on screen moment she had she was side by side with Milla – I think the southern accent helped in the hotness department.
This is one of those who done it thrillers, set in the tropical jungles of the Hawaiian Islands. The characters are palatable, there are lots of quotable lines, the story sucks you in, the cinematography is stunning thanks largely to the setting, and the surprise ending will actually surprise you even if you sort of kind of guessed who the killer was (which most people won’t be able to do).
In any case, if you have not seen it, or if you thought you did not want to see it because the trailer made it look like a cheesy horror flick, then you might want to give it a watch. I think you’ll be surprised – and not just because the female

It’s hard to talk about A Perfect Getaway on tape. Not because the paradise-set thriller doesn’t have anything going on it, but because there’s a twist halfway through that makes the rest of the film impossible to discuss without spoiling.
So when we sat down with Kiele Sanchez and Timothy Olyphant, we didn’t talk much about their rough-and-tumble characters or how they turn out in the film. Instead, we stuck to the marijuana laws of Jamaica, kayaking and Kiele and Timothy’s stints on Lost and Deadwood, respectively. And because these two are so dynamic, it turned out hilarious anyway. Along with Desperate Housewives, Lost was one of the two breakout shows in the fall of 2004. Mixing suspense and action with a sci-fi twist, it began with a thrilling pilot episode in which a jetliner traveling from Australia to Los Angeles crashes, leaving 48 survivors on an unidentified island with no sign of civilization or hope of imminent rescue. That may sound like Gilligan’s Island meets Survivor, but Lost kept viewers tuning in every Wednesday night–and spending the rest of the week speculating on Web sites–with some irresistible hooks (not to mention the beautiful women). First, there’s a huge ensemble cast of no fewer than 14 regular characters, and each episode fills in some of the back story on one of them. There’s a doctor; an Iraqi soldier; a has-been rock star; a fugitive from justice; a self-absorbed young woman and her brother; a lottery winner; a father and son; a Korean couple; a pregnant woman; and others. Second, there’s a host of unanswered questions: What is the mysterious beast that lurks in the jungle? Why do polar bears and wild boars live there? Why has a woman been transmitting an SOS message in French from somewhere on the island for the last 16 years? Why do impossible wishes seem to come true? Are they really on a physical island, or somewhere else? What is the significance of the recurring set of numbers? And will Kate ever give up her bad-boy fixation and hook up with Jack? (more…)
